Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) are essential for ensuring safe, sustainable, and high-quality food production while preserving environmental health. Recognizing the importance of continuous learning, the Improved Food System Project (NPL-1083-22) has been conducting GAP training sessions across three rural municipalities, engaging farmer groups in sustainable practices. These trainings are crucial for both Integrated Nutrition Gardens and commercial farming, equipping farmers with knowledge on soil health, water management, pest control, and post-harvest handling.
To enhance their ability to support farmers effectively, the project team successfully conducted a GAP Refresher Training for staff from 16th to 18th February 2025 at Lumbini Buddha Garden, Rupandehi. The three-day training, starting at 9 AM daily, reinforced the team’s expertise in GAP principles and introduced new strategies for promoting sustainable farming and resilient food systems. Strengthening the capacity of project staff ensures consistent, high-quality support for farmers, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and resilient food system in Kapilvastu District. The project remains committed to transforming local agriculture through continuous learning and field-level implementation.
