Handover of Solar Chimney Dryer

Rampur, Chitwan – FORWARD Nepal officially handed over a Chimney Solar Dryer, developed under UC Davis specifications, to the Department of Horticulture at Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) during the Agriculture Fair 2081, held from December 14 to 18, 2024 at AFU, Rampur. The handover ceremony was conducted by FORWARD Nepal's Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer, who presented the dryer to Dr. Homnath Giri, Head of the Department of Horticulture.

The Chimney Solar Dryer handed over to AFU, is a part of the "Empowering Youth Entrepreneurs through Appropriate Horticultural Interventions in Nepal (YUVA)" project, supported by the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Horticulture and funded by USAID, will hopefully serve as both a valuable research tool for students and a drying solution for nearby beneficiaries. Students pursuing MSc Agriculture at the Horticulture Department actively participated in the initiative, supporting the transport and setup of the dryer after the handover. This collaborative effort highlights the project's commitment to partnering with research institutions to introduce and evaluate innovative technologies from around the world, ensuring their efficacy and practical utility.
