| Major Achievements |
- Average income of families involved in vegetable cultivation has been increased by NRs15741/year
- Home gardening program has increased the daily intake of balanced diet thus improving the condition of women and children.
- Crop diversification and mono cropping replaced by multiple cropping.
- Establishment of agro-forestry system in the abandoned and sloppy areas in 13 VDCs.
- 40 LRPs in vegetable production and 30 VAHWs developed.
- 16 vegetable collection centers were established.
- One IPM center established and operational
- 16 Agro-vets and 13 multipurpose nurseries were established.
- 158 water-harvesting ponds were constructed for irrigation purpose.

| Lessons Learnt
|
- Commercial production of vegetables in batch system is important to minimize risk from natural hazards and catch better market price.
- Mobilizing LRPs/ LFs is very effective for smooth implementation of the project activities especially in remote hilly areas.
- Planning and review meeting with line agency enhances functional partnership and sustainability of project outcomes.
- Development of group production plan has largely contributed to commercialize vegetables and ensure sustainability of interventions.

| Recommendations
|
- Ground apple would be an important commodity under home gardening. So, it should be promoted in the hilly areas
- Increasing use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers by farmers are hazardous and intensive coaching by technicians for judicious use of these inputs with emphasis on IPM and IPNS should be emphasized.
